  • James Wu

    Affiliation: Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School (PEGS)James Wu is Coordinator of Languages, Director of PEGS Chinese Orchestra and Director of PEGS Confucius Classroom. He holds an MA degree from Soochow University in Taipei. Having arrived in Australia in 1979 after two years' lecturing Chinese literature at Taiwanese universities, he first taught at Monash University, and started working at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School (Melbourne) in 1982.James Wu has published seven books, produced three videos and prepared various papers in the areas of Chinese language teaching and culture. He has also been actively involved with professional organisations in Australia and abroad over recent years. He was the President of the Chinese Language Teachers’ Federation of Australia from 2001 to 2009. James received a National Excellence in Teaching Award in 1994 and he was the winner of the 2002 Chinese Teacher of the Year Award in Victoria. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2009 for service to education, particularly through the development of Chinese language teaching as a teacher, and to community.

  • Lu Bai

    Affiliation: Beijing Language and Culture University Bai Lu is a specialist in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language at Beijing Languages University, one of the foremost universities in China specialising in this field. She holds university degrees in both Economics and Chinese Literature and has worked as a Chinese teacher at Beijing Aeronautics and Aviation University, and at the Columbia University Summer Chinese Course (in Beijing). Bai Lu is interested in curriculum design, teaching methodology, Chinese grammar and language acquisition. She has worked actively in these areas throughout her university years. She spent a year teaching Chinese with James Wu at Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School before finishing her MA degree. Currently, Bai Lu is working in the Confucius Institute Division at Beijing Language and Culture University.
